Why Correct It?

Temperature Changes the Reading

Hydrometers are calibrated at a specific temperature.

Wort and beer density change with temperature. This calculator adjusts your observed specific gravity to the hydrometer's calibration temperature using a standard brewing correction relationship. For best accuracy, cool samples reasonably close to calibration temperature before measuring.
